Exhibition - Vorstelijk autoracen. Snelheid, macht en glamour
back to the overview
Discover the early days of motor racing at Museum Huis Doorn. Motorsport is more popular than ever in the Netherlands today, but over a century ago it already played an important role in society.
The former resident of Huis Doorn, German Emperor Wilhelm II, and his brother Prince Heinrich were passionate advocates for the automobile as a new mode of transport. Beginning in 1908, Prince Heinrich organized the prestigious Prinz Heinrich Fahrt, a six-day race covering over 2,000 kilometers.
In 1911, Duke Engelbert Marie of Arenberg also took part and hosted all participants in his palace in Nordkirchen (Germany). The ACA is lending several of his personal memorabilia for this exhibition at Museum Huis Doorn.
