Opening of Anne de Croÿ Square - news article on Aarschot.be
back to the overview
On Saturday, 27 June, the official opening of Anne de Croÿ Square took place in the heart of Aarschot. Indeed, Hertogelijk Plein has been given a new name. It is now called Anne de Croÿ Square, in honour of the noblewoman Anne de Croÿ (1564–1635), who is closely connected to the history of our city.
The programme featured speeches by our mayor and historian Mirella Marini, who also created a podcast about Anne de Croÿ. We also unveiled the monument, which now bears Anne de Croÿ's name. Harpist Britt Simons provided the musical accompaniment. Afterwards, we visited our beautiful Church of Our Lady, where we admired the archives and the Holy Rosary Register referring to Anne de Croÿ.
